On July 6th, more than 300 heavily armed UN troops carried out a full-blown military attack on a densely-populated section of Port-au-Prince. Multiple sources confirm the "peacekeepers" killed at least 23 people. Eyewitnesses reported the UN troops used helicopters, tanks, machine guns and tear gas in the operation. Lt.General Augusto Heleno, the Brazilian commander of UN troops in Haiti, defended the operation as a "success." Among those killed were children, women, and men on their way to work.

In November 2003 Ahmed Abdel Majeed, a stateless Palestinian born and raised in Ein el-Hilweh refugee camp in southern Lebanon, was deported from Canada. The distance between Montreal and Lebanon stretches thousands of kilometers over oceans and continents, but is only a short distance in Ahmed’s eyes and living memory of an existence shaped by the daily struggle of statelessness. Today Ahmed resides in Ein el-Hilweh, with an estimated 80,000 other stateless Palestinians in the country’s largest refugee camp located on the outskirts of the southern Lebanese city of Saida.

In today's trial of conscientious objector Mehmet Tarhan who is held captive in Sivas Military Prison over 3 months, again no decision of release was taken. Getting arrested on 8th of April in Izmir related with his being a deserter, conscientious objector Mehmet Tarhan was transferred to the military troop in Tokat and put in Sivas Military Prison with the claim of "insisting on disobedience." Right after he was released from his trail on 9th of June though his case was going on, he was sent back to the recruiting office and put into the vicious circle of troop and prison again.

An allegedly anarchist "small, handmade bomb exploded today outside the Italian Cultural Institute in Barcelona, injuring a policeman and killing a bomb-sniffing dog", the Italian Embassy and Spanish officials said.
