Objectives:
- Debate and agree a global plan of action to oppose US-led globalization, imperialism and militarism.
- Build a broad, international movement
- Build links between anti-war, anti-globalisation, Arab/Middle East movements and the rest of the international movement.
Friday, September 17
0830-0900: Registration of Delegates
0900-1230: Welcome by international organizers
Welcoming by Lebanese organizations/ representatives
Speakers: The Lebanese People’s successful struggle against Israeli occupation and US
Introductions of all participants
Discussion and adoption of agenda
1230-1400: Lunch
1400-1800: Analysis and debate on the current situation
• Overview of the current conjuncture
• The view from Africa, Middle East, Latin America, Europe, Asia, US (one
speaker from each region)
• Open debate
2000-2200: Meeting of the international working group
Saturday, September 18
0900-1330: What are our strengths and weaknesses? Successes and failures of the
movements against war, imperialism and globalization
1330-1500: Lunch
1500-1900: What’s to be done?
- What are the priorities for the international movement?
- How can we build a strategy based on our assessment of past experience?
Two facilitators to start the discussion with proposals on priorities and strategies. The objective is
to end the session with some consensus for a plan of action in key campaigns, for example, Iraq, Palestine, militarism, economic liberalization, etc.

1100-1330: Parallel meeting of international campaigns, drafting groups to finalise statements and plans of action
1330-1500: Lunch
1500-1900: Synthesis of plans, proposals and decisions
• Discussion and finalization of statement, proposed plan of action
There will be simultaneous interpretation in Arabic, English, French and Spanish.
